Labor Day Trip to the Cape

I have blogged before about the Magic of Cape Cod. As the years go by, there is a particular part of the Cape that has become dear to us: Nickerson State Park. This Labor Day weekend marks the third time we have camped here this summer, setting a new family record.

For those of you who have yet to discover camping or specifically your local state campgrounds, it is a wonderful alternative to the super expensive vacations in hotels or resorts. In Massachusetts, residents only pay around $20 per night for a spot with a picnic table, fire pit, and close by restrooms and water spigot. At Nickerson, there is the added bonus of lakes less than 5 minutes away and access to an ocean beach only 15 minutes by bicycle.

This particular trip involved myself and the two youngest. With the cooler temperatures, we did a little less swimming and a little more biking. The Cape is perfect for bike trails, as it is mostly level territory and the vistas of salt marshes and overhanging trees inspire the rider on.

As we begin a new school year, I wish to give thanks to God for such a full and rich summer. And may he give good strength to those who teach and those who learn.

  1. Dear Dcn. Aaron,

Thank you as always for sharing your family travelogue. It amazes me at the amount of experiences you share together as a family. I hope your wife and parents are all in good health.

    Love in Christ, Nicholas
