A small sermon spoken at St. Andrew Orthodox Church, Delta, CO on the West Slope of the Rockies

Greetings and Blessed Feast on this Day of Pentecost. As we luxuriate in this rich blessing of the coming of the Holy Spirit, some of us here might be tempted by thoughts of unworthiness. “How can such a loser like me, such an insignificant person have a place at such a wonderful feast?” We might even have imposters syndrome, thinking at any time someone may tap us on the shoulder and say, “We don’t serve your kind here.”

Fishing Stories

Day 3 of our vacation at Cape Cod and by all accounts this was a very good idea. The house we rented from a Family friend is extraordinarily well-organized, with drawers and even light switches labeled. Situated in Chatham Massachusetts, our lodgings sit in proximity to several good beaches, a private freshwater lake, and bikeable roads leading to dedicated rail trails. It is the perfect cure for families tired of being cooped up in quarantine. We simply take our quarantine somewhere else with only a few more added to the mix.

A Sin-o-cide Bombing in Many Languages

Christ is risen! Χριστὸς ἀνέστη! Христос Воскресе! !المسيح قام! حقا قام
Truly, Truly, He is risen!

When our Lord rose from the dead and the Holy Spirit descended upon the polyglotted people gathered at Pentecost, the truth was proclaimed in every language available. In fact, in the latter feast, each heard the Gospel proclaimed in his/her own native tongue. Though of all the world’s languages, some have been set aside for particularly holy purposes, this does not preclude preaching the good news in them all. It is for this evangelical reason that the Church has ordained a service on the day of Pascha called Agape (Love) Vespers.
